Building The New App Settings

The redesign of the app settings aimed to improve usability and align with modern design standards. We focused on creating a more intuitive, user-friendly interface, simplifying navigation, and ensuring compliance with Shopify guidelines, as it is the main platform Judge.me operates.

Problem

Problem

Problem

Judge.me's app settings were not adhering to Shopify’s Polaris design system and specific platform guidelines required to achieve the 'Built for Shopify' badge. Minding that 85% of Judge.me's customer base uses Shopify, this lack of compliance created inconsistencies in user experience and limited the app’s ability to grow and fully integrate with Shopify. Without aligning with these standards, Judge.me risked missing out on key opportunities for credibility, visibility, and user trust within the Shopify marketplace.

Solution

To address these challenges, we undertook a comprehensive redesign of Judge.me's app settings, aligning them with Shopify’s Polaris design system and platform guidelines. This included standardising UI components, refining the user interface to meet Shopify's expectations, and ensuring a cohesive experience that seamlessly integrated with the Shopify ecosystem.

User research

User research

We started by collecting insights through surveys, user interviews, and customer support data to find pain points and areas of friction within the current app navigation. This allowed us to understand user needs and expectations clearly.

This step allowed us to find opportunities for improvements and areas for differentiation, all while ensuring compliance with Shopify’s Polaris design system. We actively listened to Judge.me users regarding their preferences in other review apps and integrated the most valued features from those platforms into our redesign, customising them to better serve our unique user base.

Wireframes

Wireframes

After we got a cleaner vision, defined the company values and cleared out a few assumptions, we started to sketch the wireframes of the app's main pages. The goal was to have a more intuitive interface that addressed key user issues. This laid the groundwork for a streamlined design that prioritised functionality and ease of use.

Used methods like rapid prototyping and A/B testing to corroborate the approach taken after analysing all the user research. Used Hotjar to check screen recordings and identify bugs and other pain points and Useberry to conduct quick A/B tests and observe users complete specific tasks.
